A songwriting scene
Angers has a tradition of French songwriting and pop where the words count as much as the production. Sessions here often start from one voice and one instrument.
Time to do it properly
Away from the pressure of the big cities, projects move in sessions of several days. You can hear that room to breathe on the records.
Musicians close by
The Angers area has a dense network of players, engineers and venues. When you need one more musician, they're there the next day.
Where is the Diaphonie studio in Angers?
At 135 rue de la Madeleine, 49000 Angers, in western France. Sessions are by appointment — write to us and we'll find a date.
Do you mix and master remotely from Angers?
Yes. Most of our mixing and mastering is done remotely. You send the stems, we talk it through by email or video call, and you hear it through private links. We work that way with artists across France and Europe.
What kinds of music do you record in Angers?
Chanson, pop, jazz-pop, folk, piano and voice, and electronic music. Our selected projects give a fair picture of that range, from Lila May's jazz-pop album to Emily Trottier's EP.
How much does a studio session in Angers cost?
Every project gets a quote, drawn up after we've talked about what you're working on. We work by project rather than by the hour: a single, an EP or an album, taken through to release. Write to us with a link to listen and we'll give you an estimate.
